Do Poder e da Glória

We were invited to develop the graphic design for Do Poder e da Glória, an exhibition presenting one of Europe’s largest collections of prints, with works dating from the 16th to the 18th centuries.

The chosen setting was Vila Nova de Foz Côa—home to 25,000-year-old open-air rock engravings. A powerful encounter between different forms of engraving, separated by millennia yet brought together in the same territory.

BE

Do Poder e da Glória explores engraving as one of humanity’s oldest ways of recording and understanding the world.

From prehistoric marks carved into stone to medieval and Baroque imagery, engraving reveals the power, beliefs, fears, and ambitions of the societies that created it.

A lasting expression of who we are and how we choose to be remembered.

DO

We created the complete graphic language for the exhibition, from posters and communication materials to every graphic application within the space.

Each layout was designed to convey the strength of engraving and create a coherent visual dialogue between works, centuries, and stories.

HAVE

A coherent and memorable exhibition, deeply connected to its setting: Vila Nova de Foz Côa, home to one of the world’s most remarkable open-air rock art sites.

A journey through the evolution of engraving, from prehistoric marks to 18th-century prints, honouring the Douro and bringing this extraordinary visual legacy closer to the people of the region.
